The new Roku 3 sports a revamped UI, a new and more powerful processor, a streamlined interface, and of course HD streaming into a new, even smaller set-top box that's worth checking out if you want HD video without a lot of hassle. Its remote also now features a headphone jack you can use to keep watching the movie after everyone's fallen asleep.
The new Roku 3 will set you back $99, in line with Roku's tradition of affordable set top boxes. It supports 1080p video, packs an SD card slot and USB ports if you want to load media directly onto it, features Ethernet and dual-band wireless for high speed streaming, and a new upgraded processor that should make streaming all of that content even faster.
The software has also gotten an uplift, with a new UI that's a little more user-friendly and tile-focused than the one on the old Roku 2, which we tested when we took a look at the best set-top boxes for your money. Instead of clicking hundreds of times to get from category to category, you can move between top channels quickly or use the new search feature to get right to the channel or video provider you want. The Roku 3 also features motion control for controlling software and games (some of which are pre-loaded.)
