BY OKEY NDIRIBE & EMMAN OVUAKPORIE
ABUJA ? MEMBERS of the House of Representatives will today meet with Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on the implementation of the 2012 Appropriation Act.

The meeting was rescheduled for today following a three-day mourning period declared by President Goodluck Jonathan in honour of over 190 Nigerians who died in the Dana airline last Sunday.

John Enoh, Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation while addressing Okonjo-Iweala and Bright Okongwu, Director General, Budget Office, asked them to provide detailed information on the budget implementation.

?Looking at the letter of invitation that we have extended to the Minister of Finance, we have asked for all necessary data and information relating to releases and cash backings in terms of the implementation of the Act.

?So let me request that the honourable minister will simply, or any of her officials that is here with her who is in position of these documents to just submit that to the committee secretariat.?

The Committee Chairman explained that the interactive session was in line with the committee?s mandate to monitor and supervise the implementation of the country?s budget.

In her response,? Okonjo-Iweala lauded the resolution of the committee and promised to appear before it today with requisite data.

She said: ?I can tell you the summary of releases and the cash backings but I think we could give you a better detailed table that you can digest. Thank you for your kind permission to do that.?
